Building Engineering
and Sustainable Development

The following green technical installations are used in this energy efficient rest and nursery centre:

For the heat production of the rooms : one condensation and one high efficiency boiler are used as primary generators, of which the condensation boiler is the leading boiler being fully used from the energetical point of view, before the second boiler is being used. At the second hand, several weather and demand dependent heating distribution circuits are used.

To cool the rooms, we use passive cooling, meaning that as long as the temperature outside is lower than the temperature inside, the hygienic ventilation groups are used for cooling. Only when necessary, the active cooling system will start.

The living rooms are heated and cooled using a heat pump with an underground energy storage sytem, using climat ceilings and underfloor heating as end units. The comfort and hygienical level do increase thanks to this system, since the room is conditioned due to radiation and not draft ventilation. The ventilation system involves the recuperation of fluids from the extracted air, which reduces the need to humidify during winter. As a result, the energy cost for water and gas for the humidifaction system are kept low.

The building management system keeps track of all these technical installation parameters, and reports them constantly to the technical manager.

Capacity : 120 rooms
